According to NBC 6 Miami, a former Broward Sheriff's Office deputy who faked a car accident to recoup money spent on DEF LEPPARD concert tickets was convicted Wednesday on charges of grand theft and filing a fraudulent insurance claim.

Shawn Terel Barber, 44, is facing 10 years behind bars when he's sentenced on January 27, Palm Beach County prosecutors told the Sun-Sentinel.

A 12-year veteran of the BSO, Barber was arrested and charged in the scam last year.

Barber had purchased four tickets for a Def Leppard show at the Seminole Hard Rock but his babysitter backed out at the last minute. Instead of eating the $630 ticket costs, Barber filed a fake accident report, which would have triggered the tickets' insurance clause.
