The Yorkshirepost.co.uk is reporting:

A MOTÖRHEAD fan died following an argument after his friend’s hair was set on fire at a gig by the rock band.

Andrew Crawford, 44, became annoyed after his friend left the concert when a member of the crowd burnt his hair in a “foolish and childish” act, an inquest heard yesterday.

He was incensed his friend’s evening had been ruined and decided to follow the man he believed to be responsible when the rock gig finished at about 11pm.

Mr Crawford and his cousin, Neil Chevill, confronted two men, near the O2 Academy, in Leeds, where the concert had been held, but the argument turned to violence that left both men unconscious. Leeds Coroners Court heard yesterday Mr Crawford was pronounced dead hours later, in the early hours of November 26 last year.

The cause of death was given as a blunt force trauma to the head and this was more than likely caused by the father-of-one being punched and then hitting his head on metal railings and then the ground.

Witnesses described seeing Mr Crawford with a pool of blood around his head and having blood “gushing” from his nose and mouth.

Forensic pathologist Prof Michael Green told the inquest Mr Crawford’s brain “to be put in simple terms was well and truly shaken up”.

The two other men involved in the incident ran away from the scene but gave themselves up to police the following day when they heard a man had died following a fight.
