Legendary drummer Chuck Ruff known for his drum duet with Edgar Winter and THE EDGAR WINTER GROUP on the 1972 No. 1 hit instrumental 'Frankenstein' passed away in San Francisco, California on October 14th after a long illness.

In 1977, Ruff joined Sammy Hagar and performed on the albums Street Machine (1979) and Danger Zone (1979), including the song 'Bad Reputation' which is in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Hagar has issued the following statement yesterday:

My condolences to his family, friends and loved ones."
