February 23, 2009, 15 years ago
A website dedicated to MASTODON's new album Crack The Skye has been launched. The experience site - located at www.cracktheskye.com - is a flash-based and interactive journey through album packaging art, lyrics, images, videos, etc. from the album. Think of it as an extremely visual and engaging set of liner notes to accompany and enhance the experience of listening to the album.
Crack The Skye, will be released on March 24th with the following tracklisting: 'Oblivion', 'Divinations', 'Quintessence', 'The Czar - I. Usurper, II. Escape, III. Martyr, IV. Spiral', 'Ghost Of Karelia', 'Crack The Skye', 'The Last Baron'.
A Mastodon album package containing Crack The Skye, bonus DVD footage, and a spectacular visual-representation-of-the-album-concept-packaging will be available in a strictly limited offering to Mastodon fans. This is a one time pressing. Once it sells through, no more of this package will be produced.
The album was recorded at Southern Tracks Studios in Atlanta, GA and was produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien (VELVET REVOLVER, AC/DC and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS).
Tomorrow (February 24), fans should directly proceed to www.mastodonrocks.com to purchase the second in a series of extremely limited-edition fan packs, which consists of the 'Oblivion' single, along with the instrumental 'score' version of the track, and an exclusive Oblivion T-shirt that is not available outside this web location. Cost of the fan-pack bundle is $24.99. T-shirts will be available in all sizes and orders will be processed immediately.
