OPETH Issues Heritage In-Studio Report

hot flashes news opeth

Members of OPETH were interviewed by Germany's Rock Hard magazine in the studio, where they recorded their latest album, Heritage, for a DVD accompanying issue #291 of the magazine. In the video below, you can see guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt, guitarist Fredrik Åkesson and bassist Martin Lopez talking about the studio and the process of making Heritage, which was very different from the way they've recorded in the past (and very different from how most modern metal records are made, as Mikael makes clear):

The second in a series of videos documenting Opeth's trip to Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey is now available. In this clip, guitarist Fredrik Åkesson discusses the recording of Heritage, from the studio and vintage equipment the band used to the major, but totally organic, change in their sound this time out.

Check out parts 1 and 2 below:

Opeth recently issued the following statement: "It is with great regret that Opeth are forced to cancel their September 10th appearance at the UniRock Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. Due to a conflict with the festival´s promoter, who were not able to fulfil their contractual obligations, our agent and management decided to pull out as we can´t afford to risk financial loss.

We hereby apologize to any fans who were expecting us to appear and we´ll do our absolute best to schedule a new tour date for Turkey in the near future."

Opeth's new album, Heritage, will be released on September 20th in North America, and September 19th internationally, via Roadrunner Records.

Opeth has spent over two decades steadily amassing a body of work that is at once possessed of a fervent and unrelenting devotion to aesthetic progression (and perfection) while simultaneously scaling the summits of power, mysticism and might aspired to by the group's hard rock forefathers in BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE and LED ZEPPELIN.

The band's roots in the doom-laden shade of occult-infused Scandinavian death metal and dark romanticism are undeniable and will never elicit apology. But the transcendent emotional and melodic heights achieved on the brilliantly titled tenth full length Opeth album, Heritage, marks a new chapter in the storied quintet's career. Band leader, singer, guitarist, songwriter and long-running consistent member Mikael Åkerfeldt has reshaped the pathway forward for his artistic vehicle without sacrificing the hard won spiritualism of previous endeavors
