In a recent interview with BW&BK; about his new band, MYTHIASIN, former STEEL PROPHET vocalist Rick Mythiasin talked about his new - one might say updated - musical direction:

“I've always wanted to go in this dark direction. The album will be very heavy with melodic interludes. There’s a huge black metal influence. That's about all I listen to anymore; DIMMU BORGIR, LAMB OF GOD, SHADOWS FALL, CRADLE OF FILTH, SUSPERIA, MAYHEM, and CHILDREN OF BODOM. I'm also really into the new JUDAS PRIEST; not like that's a surprise. With Mythiasin I wanted to combine the Halford-like vocals with the darker black metal sound. But, it won't be too black metal; I’ll still have my trademark sound.”
“No one really motivated me to go in this direction,” he adds, “but the other band members combined with my vocal style just seemed to click. This is so awesome because I never had this freedom in Steel Prophet.”
