RIVAL SONS drummer Michael Miley recently spoke to EspyRock in Glasgow on their sold out tour with BLACK STONE CHERRY, and he spoke about the band’s new album and bringing the blues back into rock ‘n’ roll. An excerpt from the interview follows:

Q: The big news right now is that you have just finished recording your brand new album. How did it all go considering you went for that quick snapshot style again?

A: "It was really nice. We stayed in Nashville for a month – we’re still so steeped in Pressure & Time and the re-release, the single, getting that out to the radio stations, doing the video and doing this tour that we really haven’t even thought about the new album."

Q: So was it just a case of getting it recorded and out of the way while you had the material ready to go?

A: "Basically yeah. Nothing is mixed yet, it is just recorded tracks sitting there waiting for us to go back to."

Q: Have you set aside some time later this year so you can go back to it?

A: "We have a month off from touring coming up so at that time we will go home, visit friends and family and mix and master the record. I’ll be surfing so I don’t know how much I’ll be doing." (laughs)

Q: Is there still any work to be done on the actual songs themselves or have you got everything pretty much the way you want it?

A: "The album is there, everything to do with the recording of the song is done so it is just the post-production and artwork before we move on to the release stage."

Rival Sons have confirmed dates for a new European tour, which kicks off on May 28th at the Netherlands' Pinkpop festival.

Following a recent sold out UK tour with BLACK STONE CHERRY and a successful headlining run through Europe, Rival Sons will be returning this summer for a number of festival appearances and headlining shows. The band have also been revealed as the headliners for Rock The Queen, a one-day event which takes place aboard the historic Queen Mary ship in Long Beach Harbour, California.

Guitarist Scott Holiday comments: "Much love and thanks goes out to our UK and European fans who've made our last tour a complete crazy badass success. We got to visit a bunch of new places on this one and were warmly welcomed every night, like we were with old friends. Pretty damn lovely.

Now that we're back home, we'll be getting a little (very little) R&R;, wrapping up all the details for our next record (due out late summer), and even adding a local show on the legendary Queen Mary! We'll be headlining the Queen's Salon, a really beautiful, old, haunted looking theatre on the ship. These local shows have become quite rare for us these days, so we wanted to make this one a special one.

Lastly, as soon as we've now returned home, we're already announcing our eminent return to the UK and Europe. More dates to come, but here's what we've got thus far. Festival season is growing nearer and nearer still... And we'll do as many as we can fit on our schedule.

Knock knock. Who's there? Rock 'n' roll. Rock 'n' roll who? Rock 'n' roll is gonna punch you in the face this summer so you better pull up your pants and get ready."
