According to Birminghammail.net, Russell Brand has revealed he adopted a Brummie accent for new film Rock of Ages in tribute to BLACK SABBATH legend OZZY OSBOURNE.

The Essex born comedian said he mimicked the Birmingham dialect in honour of Aston-born rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who has kept his accent despite living in Los Angeles for several years.

Brand makes his latest big screen outing in a role where he plays an English, wild-haired rocker, alongside megastar Tom Cruise.

On June 8th, the Rock Of Ages movie premiered in Los Angeles and the red carpet event featured performances by DEF LEPPARD and BRET MICHAELS. The Rock Of Ages film and album sees the all-star Hollywood cast - Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Malin Akerman - singing some of the greatest hits of the hair band era including GUNS N' ROSES, WHITESNAKE, NIGHT RANGER, DEF LEPPARD, BON JOVI, JOURNEY, POISON, TWISTED SISTER, FOREIGNER, BON JOVI and JOAN JETT.
