Vatican's New Opera To Paint Heavy Metal Picture

According to Abc.net.au, the Vatican is planning to produce a lavish opera based on Dante's 14th century poem The Divine Comedy. But in a departure from traditional ecclesiastical music, the work will include punk, rock jazz and heavy metal music, but only to represent hell. Later this year audiences will see his musical, based on Dante's Divine Comedy, which will, if all goes to plan, open at the Vatican. It seems hell will be represented by rock, jazz, and, most importantly, punk music. The Pope's music official, the choirmaster of St John Lateran, Monsignor Marco Frisina told an Italian newspaper that using more modern music to describe the devil is not a value judgement, rather its, "violent and rebellious tones help create a hellish atmosphere".
