According to The Times Of India, rock fans in Bangalore and Mumbai will have a sour October. Hard rock band DEF LEPPARD has cancelled its concerts in both cities scheduled for October 17 and 19.

Here is what the Def Leppard website says: "We are sorry to report that due to unforeseen circumstances, the two shows in India (scheduled to take place on October 17 and 19 in Bangalore and Mumbai) have been cancelled. We apologize to our Indian fans and hope to be able to make up for it in the future."

While the band itself has not upfront stated reasons for cancelling the show, it is believed that the organisers were anxious about the safety of people /fans and the band in view of recent blasts and attacks on churches in the country.

With safety and security of life being top priority for the organisers , E-18 , the concern was conveyed to the band. The shows could be deferred to a later date, most probably in 2009.

The band was to make India its first stop in the second leg of its world tour of the new album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge. The band will now travel to Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
